The Gearaffes robotics team is a joint venture between North Penn High School and the North Montco Technical Career Center. This combination is reflected in our cabinet members. For the presidential position, we choose one student from each school to act as co-president. Our presidents are in charge of project management and club spirit along with any other jobs or tasks that are placed on them by the mentors. The Vice President acts as a tiebreaker for all club decisions. The secretary of robotics records attendance and reviews any official documents created by the team. The treasurer is responsible for handling the financial activities and monetary sponsorships for our team. Secondary leadership positions are given to members who are chosen to act as head of Electrical, Mechanical, Programming, or Business. The heads of the departments are in charge of overseeing all matters in their sector.
General Gearaffe team members are brought onto the team through a simple enrollment process which places them into the department they will be most successful in. In the beginning of each season, time is taken out to introduce members to new information relating to STEM subjects as well as innovative robotic techniques and ideas. Once build season begins, each department has projects to work on. These projects are organized and guided by the head of each department. Because the Gearaffes robotics team is a member run club, we rely on member input and effort to prepare us for competition season.
Once we enter the competition season, two members are chosen to organize and oversee all scouting activities. Along with traditional scouting, two more members are put in charge of recording each match in order to provide information for the head scouts. During the competition season, the team members who are put in charge of scouting review our competition footage in order to inform each department of ways to improve the robot's performance. During the off season, the business department meets to discuss matters and prepare for the upcoming season. Members take part in revising the business plan, maintaining our social media presence, planning events and activities for the team, and any other matters that need to be taken care of.
